 Sound Engineer, Song Writer, Artist
|
Steve Phillips has been writing, recording and performing on
stage for nearly 20 years. Over this period Steve received a degree in
electronics and did extensive study in recording. Steve has had many years of experience running sound for
clubs, bars and outdoor venues and has extensive knowledge in recording and CD
production. Steve has recorded and ran sound for Blues, Jazz, Country, Rock
& Metal bands and has been praised by many for his professionalism and knowledge.
In his younger years Steve spent most of his time immersed
in the world of art. Oil painting, pencil and ink drawing and other mediums. Steve won awards and did many art show exhibits and was instructed
by professional artist. Later on when computer technology came into play Steve
was able to merge the art of digital media with that of the old and started
creating CD covers, banners, flyers and logos for other business, bands and music artist.
At 17 Steve discovered the guitar and immediately tackled music
theory. While most successful guitarist began playing at an earlier age, Steve
came up with the motto “It’s not the years but the hours.” and began reading,
studying, practicing and breathing guitar. Within a year Steve started
performing with a local high school metal band and by the age of 19 was
performing live in clubs and bars. After only 2 years of guitar study Steve was
able to hold his own and go head to head with other guitarist that had been
playing for many years longer than he.
Steve quickly grew to be known as one of the most prominent guitarist in Southeastern
Idaho.
During this time Steve’s songwriting and recording
interest started to peak and wanting to know more about the technical side of
music Steve enrolled at ISU technical college and received a degree in
electronics. Soon after Steve began
working as an electronic repair technician by day and performed music at
night. Later Steve’s band entered the
studio to record their first demo and it was then Steve’s love for recording
began.
Steve began purchasing sound gear and started running sound
for his band and other bands in the area.
Soon Steve’s knowledge was sought after and found himself running sound
for Blues and Jazz festivals in Sun Valley, he was even
asked to go on the road with jazz piano great Gene Harris.
Later on after accepting a new job in Logan
Utah, Steve began building his own studio
in the basement of his new house. After years of recording CD’s in other
studios it was time to give it a shot himself and the rest is history.
With the success of his self produced CD Steve decided to go public
and started up his own independent label “Phist-Records” and soon after that creating
“Phist-Productions” focusing on the entire CD creation process from recording,
mixing, mastering and art production.
Now it’s possible for a band or artist to have almost every aspect of CD
creation and advertising handled for them for a very low and competitive price.
Now with the creation of Phist-Productions online store and streaming radio
it’s possible for bands to have they’re music listened to and purchased,
Phist-Productions has definitely come to be the one stop place for bands that
need it all.
Steve continues to write, record and perform his own music
to this day and can be found playing in bars and clubs in the northern Utah
and Southeastern Idaho areas. For more information checkout his bands
